Want a tattoo? Great! I ask that you please read this over, as it contains the answers to many commonly asked questions. If I haven’t answered your question here, feel free to include it in your inquiry.
Booking:
Books are open for custom tattoos! Currently booking out around 1-3 months.
To submit a tattoo request, send an email to alexgregorytattoo(at)gmail(dot)com, and include the following: detailed description of what you’re interested in getting (include size, placement on the body, color or black and gray, any reference material you might have).
Additional info that is helpful are photos of the area to be tattooed (especially if we’ll be working around other pieces), whether or not you are working with a budget, if you’d prefer an in- person consultation. Be sure to read this tattoo FAQ page in its entirety as well. Requests not following these instructions will be disregarded.
How do I get tattooed by you?
Email me and expect a response within a week. I’ll get back to you with any follow up questions I may have to make sure we’re on the same page with design and concept, or we can schedule an in person consultation if preferred.
After the consultation, I require a ($150) deposit to schedule your appointment. This ensures space in my books and is non- refundable. Deposit comes off the final session of your tattoo.
Flash pieces are always available to book. Check out my ‘flash’ page for available designs and send over an email if you’re interested in claiming one.
What are your rates?
I charge $200/ hour and have a $150 minimum.
How much will my tattoo cost?
The cost of the tattoo relies on a number of factors: size, placement, detail, etc. I charge by the hour and price varies by piece. If you have a specific budget you’re woking with please include that in your tattoo inquiry.
Can you show me the artwork before the appointment?
During our email consultation I will usually do a rough concept sketch to make sure we’re on the same page. I try to get a more refined drawing out at least 24 hours before the appointment to alleviate any pre- tattoo anxiety.
What if I want to make changes to the tattoo artwork?
I’m happy to make changes when we sit down together and review the final artwork- but major revisions (placement, concept) may not be possible with the time scheduled. Let me know ASAP if you have additions or changes that weren’t discussed during the consultation.
Numbing cream?
I do not recommend using numbing creams as they can make the skin feel ‘dead’ and difficult to work with. There are some tattoo marketed numbing products out there that contain a higher than safe concentration of lidocante, which when sitting on your skin for long periods of time have been linked to cardiac issues.
However! once the skin has been broken (usually after linework, or in the last stretch of the session) I’m happy to use a 4% lidocane spray (bactine) we can apply to your tattoo to help lessen sensation. It absorbs much easier and faster into the skin this way with minimal issues.
Let’s face it- transformation can be painful! I always recommend the holistic route when approaching a tattoo session. Calm your body and mind down, get a good amount of sleep the night before, hydrate, breathe, eat grounding nutritious foods, put down the doom scrolling for a bit. Supplements like magnesium can be useful. You might be surprised how meditative the process can be :)
Are there tattoos you won’t do?
Please check out and review my portfolio carefully- I love taking on projects that are illustrative, neo- tradtional, colorful, line/ dotwork, geometric. I don’t do hyper realism, watercolor, or pieces with no outlines. If I don’t think my style is best suited to your idea, I will let you know.
Do you do cover ups/ re-works?
Not usually
Where are you located?

Do you have designs ready to go?
Yes! I have original designs that I’ve drawn up and are ready to be tattooed, on the “flash” page of this website. Most designs are one and done, meaning they’ll be retired after they are claimed. Check em’ out and email me if you’re interested in claiming one.
